The Role
Grant Research & Identification
- Conduct research to identify government grant opportunities at federal, state, and local levels that support workforce development and training initiatives in the oil and gas industry.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of available government programs related to energy, environmental safety, and vocational training.
Grant Proposal Development
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information on training programs, industry needs, and organizational goals.
- Develop comprehensive grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documentation, tailored to specific government funding requirements.
- Ensure all proposals align with government guidelines, compliance standards, and the priorities of the grantor.
Budgeting and Financial Management
- Work with finance teams to develop detailed, accurate budgets for grant-funded training programs.
- Ensure budget justifications meet the requirements of the funding agency and reflect the needs of training initiatives.
Compliance and Reporting
- Monitor and ensure compliance with government regulations and grant conditions during both the application process and the execution of grant-funded projects.
- Prepare and submit progress and financial reports to funding agencies as required.
- Track and manage deadlines for proposal submissions, grant renewals, and reporting requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
- Collaborate with government agencies, industry partners, and workforce development organizations to align training programs with industry standards and government priorities.
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including local and regional workforce boards, educational institutions, and regulatory bodies.
Program Evaluation and Improvement
- Monitor the effectiveness of grant-funded training programs and use insights to refine future grant proposals and training initiatives.
- Analyze the outcomes of training programs to ensure they meet both internal objectives and grantor expectations.
Continuous Improvement and Professional Development
- Stay informed on trends in the oil and gas industry, workforce development, and government funding opportunities.
- Participate in industry conferences, workshops, and networking events to expand knowledge and identify new grant opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience
- Previous experience working on government grants in the energy or oil and gas sector.
- Knowledge of federal and state funding sources related to workforce training, environmental safety, or vocational education.
- Grant Professional Certification (GPC) or other relevant professional certifications highly desirable
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, Business, or a related field.
- Experience in the oil and gas sector, workforce development, or energy-related fields is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, with a proven track record of securing government funding for training or workforce development programs.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the oil and gas industry’s workforce needs, safety standards, and technical training programs.

- Strong research and analytical skills to identify grant opportunities and align proposals with funding criteria.

- Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving
Experience in Grant Writing
- Proven Grant Writing Experience: Employers often require a history of successful grant writing, including experience with government grants, particularly for energy, environmental, or infrastructure projects. Have in depth knowledge of ITWP and SBET programmes for Louisiana. Skills Development Fund part of TWC (Texas Workforce Commission) in Texas
- Industry Experience: Experience writing grants specifically in the oil and gas, environmental, or energy sectors is highly valued. Knowledge of regulations, policies, and technologies relevant to these industries is important.
Knowledge of Government Grant Processes
- Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local Grants: Understanding how to find, apply for, and comply with various levels of government grants, especially related to energy or infrastructure projects.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with government regulations, environmental standards, and energy policies related to the oil and gas industry (e.g., EPA standards, Department of Energy initiatives).
Technical Writing Skills
- Strong Writing Skills: Ability to clearly and concisely write technical proposals, grant narratives, and justifications for funding in an industry-specific context.
- Research Skills: Proficiency in conducting research to identify relevant grant opportunities, collect supporting data, and craft compelling arguments based on evidence.
Project Management Skills
- Time Management: Grant writers need to meet strict deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Organizational Skills: Ensuring that all aspects of the grant application process, from research to submission, are completed accurately and on time.
Analytical Skills
- Budgeting and Financial Analysis: Understanding how to create and justify budgets for large scale energy projects. This includes interpreting financial data and ensuring alignment with grant requirements.
- Technical Knowledge: Some technical understanding of the oil and gas industry, including operations, sustainability, and safety practices, is necessary to craft accurate and persuasive proposals.
Collaboration and Communication
- Team Collaboration: Grant writers often work with engineers, environmental scientists, legal teams, and financial officers to gather necessary information.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicating with internal teams and external government agencies to ensure the grant aligns with both organizational goals and grantor requirements.
Knowledge of Grant Management Software
