The Role
The Industry Skills Business Development Manager will be responsible for strategic external engagement with key industry stakeholders for the Energy Transition and Utilities sectors; engaging with clients, industry bodies, skills groups and other influential parties related to skills development, training, adult education and apprenticeships in the Energy Transition and Utilities sectors, specifically Water, Gas, Electricity distribution and new Clean Energy.
The role will support the development of strategy for 3t’s operations in the Energy Transition and Utilities training space by engaging and understanding the needs of industry and shaping the value proposition of 3t to meet these needs, supporting the growth of strategic client sales, development of product strategy, geographical presence and identifying potential M&A targets.
An Energy Transition and Utilities industry experienced person, you will have extensive knowledge of the key dynamics for skills development in this sector, with a network of relevant industry stakeholders and clients whom you can access and engage with to support the development of strategy and revenue growth for 3t in the market.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Key contributor to the development and delivery of 3t’s innovation and industry engagement plans, facilitating strategic industry and innovation partnership engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within the target organisations in the Energy Transition and Utilities market.
- Conduct market research to identify new business development opportunities, industry trends, and competitors’ activities to inform sales strategies and tactics.
- Attend industry events and forums, engage with skills bodies and stakeholder groups and other relevant industry activities to inform your knowledge and support development of 3t strategy
- Collaborate with the internal account management team to develop customized proposals and presentations that effectively demonstrate the 3t value proposition to our clients.
- Review industry skills reports and strategic documents to identity relevant areas for 3t to access opportunities and routes to achieve our growth objectives
- Providing briefings and insights on industry trends and direction to the Senior Leadership Team to help formulate future strategies
- Identify cross sell opportunities with clients and stakeholders to present other solutions from within the 3t stable of products and services.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, certifications, and standards related to the energy sector, utilities, and power generation to effectively position the 3t offering.
- Use all the 3t CRM systems to source data and accurately record sales activity.

- Proven track record of successfully engaging with industry stakeholder bodies or sales background within the Energy Transition, Utilities, or Power Generation sectors.
- Solutions orientated mindset, listening to stakeholder challenges and pain points and tailoring solutions appropriate to meet needs.
- Strong understanding of training and workforce development needs within the Energy Transition and Utilities sector, or related fields.
- Proven ability and interest to learn about the potential for new technologies in the industry
- Generate and communicate industry sector intelligence in support of strategic focus areas.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish credibility with senior-level executives.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities.
- Demonstrable track record of meeting and exceeding revenue budgets.
- Excellent commercial instincts
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
